Typing Game - Ranks, Streaks, Badges & Coins

Underneath everything, TypeClash is still a typing test - WPM, accuracy, consistency, the same as anywhere else. What turns it into a game is everything layered on top: a rank you climb, a season that keeps resetting the board, a streak that rewards showing up, coins you earn and spend, and badges that stick around as proof of what you've actually done. None of it changes how the typing itself works - it changes why you'd want to keep doing it.

This Isn't Just a Speed Test

Most typing tests end at the results screen - one number, no memory of last time, nothing waiting for you tomorrow. TypeClash's game layer exists to break that pattern: your rank persists between sessions, your streak tracks whether you showed up yesterday, your season standing shifts as other people play, and your badge case only ever grows. The typing test is still the engine - this is what gives the engine somewhere to go.

    11 Rank Tiers to Climb

Solo Ranked matches are the core progression loop - beat the expected pace for your current tier and you move up; fall short and you drop. The ladder runs from Rookie all the way to Mythical, each with its own WPM band and its own badge art, so your rank is visible on your profile the moment you earn it. See the full scoring formula →

    Seasons Keep the Board Moving

Every season pays out two ways at once. Climb into a new rank tier during the season and you unlock a cosmetic reward the instant it happens - a font, frame, or skin, growing rarer the higher you climb. Separately, where you land on the leaderboard when the season itself ends pays out its own track: everyone who played at least one ranked match gets a badge, the top 25% get a font, the top 10 get a frame, and first place walks away with a skin found nowhere else. Then the leaderboard resets and a new season starts the chase over - your rank and everything you've already earned carry forward untouched. See season rewards in full →

    Daily Streaks Reward Showing Up

Separate from rank and season standing, TypeClash tracks a daily streak - and pays out bonus points at set milestones just for keeping it alive, independent of how fast you actually typed that day.

    Streak dayBonus points
    Day 7+20
    Day 14+50
    Day 21+20
    Day 28+100
    Day 35+20
    Day 42+50
    Day 49+20
    Day 56+150
    Day 63+20
    Day 70+50
    Day 77+20
    Day 84+100
    Day 91+20
    Day 98+200

Milestones repeat on a rhythm rather than a flat weekly cadence - notice the bigger payouts landing every few weeks (day 28, day 56, day 98) as the streak gets harder to keep going.

Coins & the Store: Earn, Then Spend

Coins come entirely from playing - ranked matches, clearing levels, selling badges you already own, and referring new players. There's no way to buy coins directly, which keeps the Store purely a reward for playing rather than a shortcut around it. Spend what you earn on Themes (full visual skins for the typing area, previewable before purchase), Fonts (monospace typefaces for the text you type against), or Season vouchers (limited to one per account per season). None of it affects scoring, matchmaking, or your rank - it's entirely cosmetic. Browse what's in the Store →

Badges: Tiered Proof of What You've Done

Every badge belongs to one of four rarity tiers - standard, rare, epic, or legendary - and shows one of five glyphs depending on what earned it.

    standardrareepiclegendary

    Star milestones

Awarded for hitting a total-star threshold, like the star rewards you build up through Season Levels.

    Rank milestones

Awarded the moment you're promoted into a new rank tier - a permanent marker of how far you've climbed.

    Competitive placement

Awarded for finishing top-N, top-percent, or in an exact position - the reward for where you land on a leaderboard, not just for playing.

    Participation

The generic, fallback badge kind - proof you took part, even before you've placed or hit a specific milestone.

    Streaks

Awarded from daily-streak milestones specifically - the flame glyph is reserved for streak-sourced badges only.

Levels: A 100-Level Trail Alongside the Ladder

Rank isn't the only progression track. Season Levels runs a separate 100-level trail with its own star ratings and energy mechanic - clearing levels builds toward its own badge milestones without ever touching your rank, so it's a second, lower-pressure way to feel the game moving forward even on a day you'd rather not risk a ranked loss. Frequently asked questions

Is TypeClash a typing test or a typing game?+

Both, depending on which mode you're in. Classic and Infinite are the plain test - type, get a score, done. Rank, Levels, Multiplayer, seasons, streaks, coins, and badges are the game layer built on top of that same test.

Do I need to be fast to enjoy the game side of TypeClash?+

No. Rank tiers start at Rookie (5+ WPM) specifically so new players have somewhere to begin, and daily streaks reward showing up regardless of speed. The progression systems are built to work at every skill level, not just the top of the leaderboard.

How many badge tiers are there?+

Four: standard, rare, epic, and legendary, in ascending rarity. Which tier a badge lands in depends on what it was awarded for.

Do streaks or badges cost money?+

No. Every progression system on TypeClash - rank, streaks, badges, levels - is entirely free. The only thing coins buy is cosmetics in the Store, and coins themselves are earned by playing, never purchased.

What happens to my rank and rewards when a season ends?+

The leaderboard itself resets to give everyone a clean slate, but your rank tier and everything you've already earned carry forward - nothing you've unlocked gets taken away.
